Alive in Tehran

Alive in Tehran provided Iranians tools to produce and distribute media. Small World News worked with Iranians in Tehran and around the country to disseminate their voices by recorded phone calls, videos, photos, and blogging. Alive in Tehran was one of the first projects in which secure voice lines and online audio tools were deployed for Iranians to record messages to the outside world.

Voices from the Green Revolution

In 2009 a series of protests erupted around Iran following the disputed victory of Mahmoud Ahmedinejad and in support of opposition candidates. Peaceful protestors were repressed by police and paramilitaries who beat, gassed, and even killed them. During the upheaval, many Iranians communicated using the internet and social media. Alive in Tehran was developed to support the dissemination of news and information using innovative means.
